Dr. Deirdre Kilbane is a Senior Research Fellow at the Telecommunications Software and Systems Group (TSSG), Waterford Institute of Technology. She has a BSc in Experimental Physics and a PhD in Mathematical Physics for her thesis on ‘Searches for Signatures of Quantum Chaos’. Deirdre is co-PI of the European FETOPEN PRIME project and PI of the SFI Nanomote project. Her main research interests lie in developing implantable medical devices to enable personalized medicine via the internet of bio-nano-things. She is also interested in quantum technologies with a particular focus on quantum communication networks and sensing. Her research combines quantum and molecular communication, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence to develop innovative technologies for Agriculture, Healthcare and ICT.
